Man Dies in Fulham Park Gardens Blaze


Fire rips through basement flat in the early hours of this morning

A man has died following a flat fire in Fulham Park Gardens despite being rescued from the blze by London Fire Brigade.

The fire broke out during the early hours of this morning (22nd March).

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the man from the basement flat and bring him to the ground floor but sadly he was declared dead at the scene. The fire is believed to have started in the flat’s bedroom and left around a quarter of the basement damaged.

Seven other people were rescued from a flat on the building’s third floor by crews wearing breathing apparatus. All were treated at the scene.

The Brigade was called at 2.10am and the fire was under control less than two hours later. Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers from Fulham, Hammersmith and Wandsworth fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s fire investigation team and the police.
