Man Wields Machete at Police Officers on Clem Attlee Estate
Night time patrols had been stepped up in response to complaints about anti-social behaviour

A man has been arrested on the Clem Attlee estate after brandish a machete at police officers this weekend.

Member of the Fulham Safer Neighbourhood were working a night shift patrolling crime hot spot areas. This was in response to reports of anti-social behaviour late at night or early hours of the morning.

The police team led by PS Martis-Jones spotted a male on North End Road who ran way when he saw the police van. Officers gave chase on foot through Chuter Ede alleyway and caught up with him at Stafford Cripps House.

At this point, the male took out a large machete concealed in waistband of his shorts and waved this at officers.

Pava incapacitant spray, a kind of pepper spray was used which brought the male down to the floor and the weapon was recovered. A quick search also revealed a small quantity of Class A and C drugs, the male was arrested for Possession with intent to supply and possession of offensive weapons.
