"Please Help Me Find My Stolen Prosthetic Legs"

Victoria Milligan makes appeal to Fulham residents after theft from car in Michael Road

Victoria, 45 lost her left leg below the knee in a speedboat accident in Cornwall in 2013 which killed her husband Nicko and her eight year-old daughter Emily. Two of her three other children were also injured.

On Sunday she was having lunch in Megan's Restaurant on Kings Road when her prosthetic limbs were stolen from nearby Michael Road between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Victoria Milligan's stolen prosthetic limbs

Police believe that two males on scooters smashed both the car’s passenger-side windows and stole two bags from the back seat - one containing three prosthetic legs and one containing a laptop.

The legs included a specially designed blade which Victoria needs for running and for her work as a personal trainer. She says it would cost £30,000 and take three months to replace them.

After the theft, she told BBC Radio London's Vanessa Feltz: "I was left on the floor devastated and crying my eyes out when I found out.

"After what I've been through nothing surprises me any more, but I couldn't believe it happened."

Yesterday, she tweeted @VMilliganMe:" Unbelievably three of my prosthetic legs were stolen from my car on Sunday in SW6 by Megan's restaurant, no value to anyone other than me. Please share with anyone who lives in Fulham area just in case they randomly see them discarded somewhere! Thank you x."

Since then it has been retweeted over 3,000 times by well wishers including London cabbies and comedian Alan Carr. Today, she tweeted: " Wow, thank you so much everyone for retweeting about my lost legs, I really appreciate it and fingers crossed we will find them...thank you, Victoria x."

Police are also appealing for help finding the lost limbs. Inspector Darren Desa, of Hammersmith and Fulham Borough, said: "This is a heinous crime where heartless thieves have stolen the victim’s personal property, including her prosthetic legs.

" This is extremely distressing for the victim.

"We would appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.

"I would also appeal to anyone who knows where the prosthetic legs are to do the right thing and hand them in to police or inform police where they are. They are of no use to anyone but the victim."

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC.
