The incident happened at 1.10pm near the junction with Lillie Road. A 18-year-old man was on the footway talking to a 47-year-old woman when they were approached by a man who threw a liquid at the teenager. Some of the noxious substance also splashed onto the woman.

Their assailant then ran off along Crabtree Lane and may have subsequently left the area on a moped that was parked on Bothwell Street. The suspect is described as a black male.

The victims were both taken to a west London hospital. The 18-year-old man suffered severe burns to his neck, face and shoulder and has also left hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, but may be life-changing. The woman was treated for small burns to her shoulder and neck and has been discharged from hospital.
