Arrest Made in Joseph Griffiths Murder Case

Family say loss of 'adored' husband, father and grandfather leaves 'great void'

A 20 year old man has been arrested this morning (13th November) on suspicion of the murder of Joseph Griffiths in Fulham.

He is currently in custody at a central London police station.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information.

Joseph Griffiths, aged 73, was stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday morning (10th November) at his home in Hazlebury Road.

While officers retain an open mind as to the motive, one line of inquiry is that it appears Mr Griffiths disturbed an intruder.

He was a married man with two grown up sons.

Mr Griffith's family, have issued a statement saying "Joe was a husband, father and grandfather, he was a successful businessman who embraced life and lived it to the full.

"He took great pride in his business and it gave him immense satisfaction that three generations of the Griffiths family were employed there.

"Joe's sudden and tragic demise has shocked and saddened all who knew and loved him, and has left a great void in all our lives. We will miss his forthright views and wicked sense of fun.

"Joe leaves behind a wife, two sons and seven grandchildren, who all completely adore and miss him.

"The support from our friends, our customers, old and new has been overwhelming, we greatly appreciate it."

Police were called to reports of a burglary at the address and arrived to find Mr. Griffiths had been the subject of a violent attack. He was pronounced dead at the scene following the arrival of the emergency services.

There were other people in the house at the time but none of them were injured.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
