And local people asked to nominate local charity to receive support
Representatives from the charity Help for Heroes will visit Sainsbury's in Townmead Road on Saturday May 21, collecting donations from shoppers and selling fundraising merchandise.
The charity's visit to the store follows last month's collection, held by the Hammersmith annd Fulham Foodbank on the organisation's first anniversary, when generous local people donated 750 kilos of food for those in need.
The store is also asking Fulham residents to nominate a local charity to receive one year's worth of fundraisig and support from Sainsbury's and its customers.
This is the third year the Local Charity Partner scheme has been run, and customers have until May 25 to place their nominations in the voting box, situated at the front of the store.
Last year Sainsbury’s stores and their customers helped more than 800 charities and organisations across the UK through fundraising and volunteering and gave more than £1.3million of support to local communities.
Store manager Dave Murray says: " The Local Charity Partner scheme really engages both our colleagues and customers. This is a great opportunity for our customers to give a local charity that’s close to their hearts the chance to receive fundraising and other support from Sainsbury’s Townmead Road, Fulham for a whole year.
"We now need our customers to come in and tell us who we should consider supporting for the third year of the scheme."
The store will announce their new Local Charity Partner in June.
