Open Days for Animal Lovers

Mayhew Home and Putney Hospital invite visitors on Sunday

Two of West London's best loved animal centres are holding Open Days next Sunday, July 19.

The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green is opening its doors from 12 noon until 4pm. The afternoon will include a special Mayhew Dog Show, offering visitors the chance to find out more about some current residents, like the home's dog of the month Lala, pictured here.

There will also be a display from police dogs and their handlers, live steel pan music from Carribean Steel and an appearance by special guests, Jackie Prescott and Tippy Toes from Britain's Got Talent.

There will also be plenty of food, face painting for the kids and gift stalls to browse. Tickets cost £2 for adults, £1 for children and senior citizens, or you can buy a ticket for a family of four for £5.  The Mayhew Animal Home can be found at Trenmar Gardens, off Harrow Road.

Over in Putney, The RSPCA Animal Hospital is having its summer fair on the same day, Sunday July 19, from 11.30am till 3pm. As always, the fair will have a range of stalls including bric a brac, toys, books, pet foods and accessories, Freedom foods and plants plus a pet food and blanket appeal, grand raffle, tombola and tea and cakes in the garden.

The animal hospital is in Clarendon Drive, off Upper Richmond Road.
