Bridge Baker is celebrating a fresh wave of success this summer after securing three new Great Taste Awards in 2026, bringing the Fulham bakery’s total to eight and further cementing its reputation as one of west London’s leading artisan bakeries.
The standout triumph this year is the bakery’s Pain au Chocolat, which earned a coveted 2-Star Great Taste Award — a distinction reserved for products judged to be truly exceptional. Judges praised its “excellent lamination”, “rich buttery flavour with clotted cream notes”, and “wonderfully light and fluffy” texture, describing the pastry as “impressive” and a showcase of outstanding craftsmanship.
Bridge Baker also received 1-Star Great Taste Awards for its Galette des Rois and Cranberry Shortbread, both recognised for the quality and flavour that have become hallmarks of the bakery’s work. The Galette des Rois was commended for its beautifully laminated pastry and balanced flavour, while the Cranberry Shortbread was celebrated for its crisp texture, buttery aroma and harmonious blend of sweetness and fruit.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with these results,” the Bridge Baker team said. “Receiving a two-star award for our Pain au Chocolat is especially rewarding. Laminated pastry is one of the most technically challenging products to produce, and this recognition reflects the incredible skill, care and dedication of our pastry team.”
The awards continue a remarkable year for the independent bakery, which has become a cornerstone of the Fulham community since opening its first site on Wandsworth Bridge Road in 2017. Earlier this summer, Bridge Baker marked its seventh anniversary with a day of celebrations featuring live music, family activities and community fundraising — a reflection of the bakery’s longstanding commitment to its neighbourhood.
The accolades also follow a major personal achievement for founder Gauri Nafrey, who was named Business Woman of the Year 2026 at the SME London Business Awards. Judges praised her leadership, strategic clarity and dedication to building a business rooted in quality and integrity. Under her guidance, Bridge Baker has expanded to Fulham Road and Hammersmith Road while maintaining its focus on small-batch production, artisan methods and exceptional ingredients.
Across its three sites, Bridge Baker has built a loyal following for its sourdough loaves, seasonal bakes and café culture, with each location serving as both a neighbourhood meeting point and a showcase for traditional baking skills.
