Wandsworth Bridge Road bakery, pizzeria and food store Bridge Baker has won a coveted Great Taste Award for its best-selling vegan snickerdoodles.

The delighted team at Bridge Baker announced the award to customers, saying: “ As you know, we make everything ourselves on-site. We are enormously proud of the innovative, artisan products we bake daily with love and care.

“The esteemed judges at the Great Taste Awards have also said they love our products. The judges said: ‘These delicious cookies deserve a Great Taste Award on flavour alone. The fact that they are also gluten-free & vegan makes them exceptional.’

“ Our snickerdoodles are vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free, and they taste GREAT!”

The Great Taste Awards are run by the Guild of Fine Food, which describes them as the world’s largest, longest standing and most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food and drink producers.

The food or drink being tested is judged by a panel of over 500 food and drink professionals, including critics, chefs, recipe creators, buyers, retailers, journalists and broadcasters and award winners are entitled to show off the Great Taste black and gold logo.

Bridge Baker was first opened in 2019 by local resident Gauri Naffrey, with the motto 'born and bread in SW6’ and later that year was named both Best Place to Eat in Hammersmith & Fulham and Best Independent Business on the High Street in the annual H&F Brilliant Business Awards.

As well as a range of vegan bread, baked on the premises, Bridge Baker offers an all-day menu, including breakfast and brunch, coffee, organic teas, fresh juices and smoothies, sandwiches, homemade pies and quiches and pastries.

Home baked pizzas are available to eat in or take away, with vegan and gluten free options, from 5pm on Wednesday till Sunday and from midday till 3pm at weekends.

The Guild of Fine Food says it exists to support, protect, represent, and raise awareness of all good independent food and drink businesses, and while celebrating their success the Bridge Baker team say: “ It has never been more important to support your local artisan producers; these are challenging times for us all.

“We are grateful to every one of our customers and thank you for giving us the opportunity to continue to make great bakery products and deliver friendly, personal service.”
