Collision believed to have involved van and motorcyclist

Wandsworth Bridge was closed both ways following an accident earlier this morning (4 May).

According to eye-witness reports there was a collision between a white van and a motorcyclists on the road leading to the southern side of the bridge. The collision is believed to have taken place shortly before 6.30am.

Footage from Transport for London traffic cameras also shows a double decker bus stopped at the scene at the time of the incident.

Two fire engines attended along with a number of other emergency service vehicles.

The bridge has now reopened in both directions although the southbound bus lane remains closed.

There are still long queues in the area around West Hill Putney Bridge, York Road and Trinity Road.
