Woman Cyclist "Stable" after Parsons Green Accident


Hit by Maserati sports car at junction with New King's Road

A woman cyclist is "stable" in hospital after being hit by a Maserati sports yesterday morning, July 1, at the junction of Parosons Green and New King's Road.

The woman, who police say is aged 38, was hit by the high-end sports car after coming off her bike at the at around 7.40am, according to police.

Witnesses said she lay in the road for up to half an hour with a bleeding head wound before ambulance crews arrived.

Allison Dent, 27, who works in nearby coffee shop St Clements, told the Evening Standard: "She was there for a really long time. There were a lot of people around and a lot of police."

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: " We can confirm that we were called at 7.39am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist on New Kings Road.

" The patient was reported to be alert and breathing normally and so the incident was not categorised as a life-threatening emergency. We sent an ambulance crew, the medical team from London’s Air Ambulance by car and a duty officer to the scene, with the first of our staff arriving at 8.11am.

"Staff treated a 38-year-old woman for shoulder, arm and back pain and she was taken as a priority to the major trauma centre at St George’s Hospital. 

He added: " Our response was just outside of the 30 minute time we are expected to arrive in for this type of call. We apologise for any distress that may have been caused."

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "At 07.40hrs today, Tuesday, 1 July, officers on patrol on Parsons Green discovered a cyclist who is believed to have fallen before being in collision with a vehicle. She made contact with a Maserati.

"London Ambulance Service attended and the woman was taken to a south London hospital where she remains in a stable condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

Witnesses say the car stopped at the scene of the accident.
