Busy Days in Normand Park

Table top sale, Tai Chi and free gardening

Fulham's answer to Portobello Road, Normand Park's table top sale, has proved so popular it is now a regular event, held on the last Sunday each month.

The sale is the brainchild of Friends of Normand Park Secretary Brenda Dunne and local resident Sue de St Aubin, who hope to raise money for events for North Fulham kids aged 12 and over.

The next sale, on Sunday July 26, is the fifth to date, with sales so far growing bigger and better each month. The last sale included well over 20 stalls selling everything from bric a brac to gardening equipment, and stallholders ranged from local craftspeople to families selling unwanted toys and household items.

The sale itself, which has the support of North Fulham NDC takes place in the main walkway of the Lillie Road park from 9am till 4pm, with traders setting up their stalls from 8am.

Becoming a trader at the sale costs £8, which must be paid in advance and traders have to bring their own tables and chairs. To book your table call Brenda Dunne on 0785 2221993.

There are also free gardening sessions in the park's community garden every Wednesday from 4pm till 6pm, with small plots available. It is free to join in, and tools, gloves and seeds are available to help newcomers get started.

Free Tai Chi sessions are also on offer in Normand Park for the next four weeks on Tuesdays, from 2pm till 3pm. These sessions are suitable for people with reduced mobility and for the over 60's - though the organisers emphasise that people under 60 are very welcome too.

The Friends of Normand Park also have their own group on Facebook - to join them, simply log on to Facebook and search for their name.
