Your guide to the first of our local festive events
Christmas celebrations in Fulham begin in earnest this weekend, with a seasonal concerts, carols by candelight, an alternative Christmas show and the chance to pick up early presents on Small Business Saturday.
At St Andrew's Church, Fulham Fields in Greyhound Road, the Addison Jazz Choir, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Trio perform their winter concert Day & Night on Saturday, 2 December at 7.30pm.
The concert will feaure a glorious mix of musical styles from Caribbean rock and gospel to jazz, pop, funk and disco – including Night and Day, Oh Happy Day, Lou Reed's Perfect Day, Rainy Days and Mondays and there will be mulled wine and mince pies before, after and between sets.

The Addison Singers will also appearing at Fulham Palace on Sunday 3 December from 3.30pm to 5pm as The Friends of Fulham Palace present Carols by Candlelight. The Addison Singers will be singing well-loved festive songs and committee members will be selling mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate. Free, click here to register.
While other seasonal events at Fulham Palace are already sold out, there is still time to book a place at a Celebration of Christmas Past on Thursday 7 December, from 2pm to 3pm.
The bishop and his family celebrated many wonderful Christmasses at Fulham Palace. Join Curator Miranda Poliakoff on this tour to hear about Christmas at the Palace over the centuries, including the famous children's parties hosted by Bishop Winnington-Ingram. The tour is followed by a glass of mulled wine.

If you are looking for something different to entertain the children, Chelsea Theatre in Worlds End is presenting Once Upon a Snowflake, from Paper Balloon Theatre Company.
Follow Liza into a colourful whirlwind of stories and adventure, led by a tiny Sprite with a fascination for snowflakes. You’ll never see a snowflake the same way again.
With a captivating blend of shadow puppetry, storytelling and enchanting original songs from Darren Clark (The Scarecrow’s Wedding, These Trees Are Made of Blood, Winner: Stiles & Drewe Award 2016), Paper Balloon present this funny, quirky and different show for family audiences aged three and up.
Once Upon a Snowflake continues until 22 December, with 10am and 2pm shows on weekdays and 2.30pm and 5.30pm shows at weekends. Find out more here.
This weekend, you can also head to Hammersmith's first ever Christmas Market or stay local and support Fulham's independent traders on Small Business Saturday.

The carol concert includes performances from the St Pauls’ choir, the Band of The Welsh Guards and a choir of Stoll staff and veterans… followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
All proceeds from the evening will be used by the charity to provide housing and other support to homeless and disabled veterans.

Christmas celebrations get officially underway on Saturday 3 December, with a festive traffic-free market in North End Road, Christmas lights switch-on and traditional tree lit up on Jerdan Place opposite St John's Church.
The Christmas market, running from 9am till 5pm once again offering stalls on both sides of the road packed with gifts, food and entertainment is the first of a host of seasonal celebrations across SW6.
The market will have 160 stalls plus live music and a visit from Santa. And at 4.30pm, Georgia Toffolo, star of television show Made in Chelsea, will be switching on the street’s Christmas lights.

Also on Saturday, children from Fulham music school Music’all will perform a new song Brand New Day (Peace on Earth),at the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Christmas Party at 11.30am and sing Christmas carols around Parsons Green between 5pm and 6pm.
The Addison Singers jazz choir and ensemble will perform a jazz concert at St Andre's Church on Saturday evening and sing carols at a free event at Fulham Palace, on Sunday 4 December. There will be two performances at 3.30pm-4pm and 4.30pm-5pm. Find out more here.
On Sunday 4 December, Fulham Camerata is kicking off its own festive concerts at its home church of Holy Cross Church in Fulham at 7pm. The programme this year features some beautiful carols from Russia, Spain, Germany and the United States among others. This is not a ticketed event, so just come along and help support nominated charity, Caritas.
Fulham Camerata will also cross the river on 8 December supporting the work of Paul’s Cancer Support Centre and will be performing at their charity concert at St Mary’s Church, Putney Bridge at 7:00pm. Purchase tickets in advance here and support their important work.
Fulham Camerata is also joining forces with Fulham Symphony Orchestra on Saturday night, 3 December to present a complete performance of Tchaikovsky’s magical ballet score at St John’s Smith Square. Find out more and book tickets here.
