Local Children Sing Up for BBC Proms Plus

Children from seven primary schools across Hammersmith and Fulham sang up before a packed audience at a BBC Proms Plus event held on Sunday at the Royal College of Music.
The free concert was presented by Sing Up, a national singing programme which aims to put singing at the heart of primary school-aged children's lives.
The children were performing as part of the London Oratory Choir, which belongs to the Sing Up Chorister Outreach Programme. It is one of the UK's leading boys' choirs and has appeared on soundtracks for The Golden Compass, Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.
The choir sang at the Proms Plus concert with children from seven of its partner primary schools in Hammersmith and Fulham - St Augustine's Catholic Primary School, St John's CofE Walham Green Primary School, Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, St Peter's CofE Primary School, St Stephen's CofE Primary School, St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School and St Mary's Catholic Primary School.
They were joined by the East London Partnership Choir,which consists of two choirs, Solid Harmony and Gallions Primary School. The choirs are both part of the new Sing Up London Community.
These Sing Up communities aim to place singing at the heart of communities and to reach more than 2,000 children, with primary-aged children as the central focus.
Howard Goodall, the Government's Singing Ambassador and one of Britain's most distinguished and versatile composers, co-hosted the 45 minute concert and spoke about the importance of Sing Up Communities, which enable choirs of different ages, including primary schools, to sing together.
His words were borne out by the enthusiastic response from the audience, who clearly enjoyed the quality of the performances and the enthusiasm of all the young singers.
