Club and fans celebrate after 8-0 win over Wigan
Chelsea Football Club will hold a victory parade through the streets of Fulham next Sunday, May 16 after winning the Premier League with a barnstorming 8-0 victory over Wigan.
In a repeat of the 2006 parade when 70,000 fans lined the streets, the team will climb aboard an open top double decker bus and travel down Fulham Road from Stamford Bridge.
The players will be showing off their Premier League trophy and possibly also the FA Cup trophy, if they manage to repeat their triumph by beating Portsmouth to win the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium on Saturday May 15.
Chelsea have been planning arrangements for the parade with the emergency services and Hammersmith and Fullham council.
Says the council's residents' services director, Lyn Carpenter: " Large events like this take meticulous planning to ensure they are safe and enjoyable.
"We are keen to ensure that any disruption to local residents is kept to a minimum."
Chelsea may not be the only local team celebrating this week. Fulham are also planning a party for fans at Craven Cottage if they beat Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday May 12.
