Open air cinema in Fulham Palace's gardens

Fulham Palace's gardens are being transformed into an open air cinema on Monday, July 13 for the first of of a series of Monday Night Movies held in aid of a charity called The Kantha Bopha Foundation.

For the first film, the organisers have chosen the much loved classic comedy western, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Alongside the main film, there will also be a documentary film, 15 Years of

Kantha Bopha, about the work of the foundation's founder, the cello playing Dr Beat Richner. Since 1993 Dr Richner has established five paediatric hospitals in Cambodia, which have treated around nine million patients and saved the lives of over half a million children.

Monday's event will also offer a Champagne and Pimms bar and a gourmet barbeque, and the organisers say they are most grateful to Fulham Palace for providing the venue and donating some of the profits from the bar and food to the foundation.

The evening is open to everyone over the age of 12, and the BBQ will start at 8pm with the film beginning at 9.30pm. Tickets cost £10 each and can be purchased in advance from Monday Night Movies. Tickets will also be available on the door.

The organisers add that there will be a limited number of seats available to rent, otherwise people should bring a rug or something similar to sit on... and perhaps a brolly in case raindrops keep falling on their heads!
