Autumn line-up at Parsons Green Sports and Social Club

Brook's Blues Bar, at Parsons Green Sports and Social Club in Broomhouse Lane, is presenting a series of live gigs throughout the autumn.

Here's what's on offer in November and December:

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5
LITTLE TOBY WALKER
Little Toby Walker makes his Brooks Blues debut tonight.
Toby - winner of the prestigious Memphis International Blues Challenge Award, is an exceptionally gifted finger-style guitarist, singer, songwriter & storyteller whose music draws from traditional and contemporary blues, roots, western swing and ragtime. This is one helluva performer, as well as being a really nice guy - it’s been said of Toby that he’s a man who can capture the soul in torment, the soaring wings of love as well as the low-down and dirty side of life. He’s a raconteur, translator, interpreter and composer for the human condition. Arguably, one of the finest Piedmont and Delta influenced guitar players alive. He is steeped in the tradition of men and women who made their guitar a mirror of the sweat, blood and tears of life. Toby’s ancient National rings with the power that only a soul man can give and his electric forays are stirring reminders of the emotional impact that music an make on the maker and receiver.

He won the Best Instrumental Album category for his 2010 release "Speechless ~ For Once" in the prestigious New York Music Awards. This is a major award as a glance at just a handful of some of the other winners will show you....Gil Scott-Heron, Suzanne Vega, Lady Gaga (well you can't always choose the company you keep!!), Bob Dylan & Mose Allison...the list goes on.

THE SPIKEDRIVERS
The Spikedrivers take their inspiration from their American roots and the country’s rich musical heritage. Constance Redgrave (bass guitar, vocals & percussion).from Hollywood, California, learned her craft at the Musicians Institute of Technology in Los Angeles. Her obvious talent landed her the gig with 'Christian Death' who were just about to leave for a European tour. Now living in London she has gone on to play with Otis Grand, Steve Cropper, Anson Funderburgh, Hank Wangford, and Chris Jagger, among many others.

Maurice McElroy (drums, vocals & percussion), a "veteran blues drummer" according to Blueprint Magazine, Maurice originally hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
