Brompton Cemetery Launches a Memory Cafe

Chance to discuss grief, loss and bereavement over tea and cake

Brompton Cemetery has launched a Memory Cafe, which invites people of different faiths (or none) to discuss grief, loss, and bereavement in a safe, relaxing and confidential environment, around copious amounts of tea and cake.

Fulham Broadway Methodist Church

The Memory Cafe sessions, taking place at Fulham Broadway Methodist Church are facilitated workshops designed in collaboration with Compassionate Funerals, exploring some of the following questions::

Have you ever experienced loss?

How did you say goodbye?

How do we deal with grief in different cultures?

These workshops aim to capture diverse perspectives on death and burial to exhibit as part of the Brompton Cemetery Conservation Project.

Everyone is welcome, but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The sessions are at Fulham Broadway Methodist Church over three Fridays, 28 July, 4 August and then 18 August.

Booking for the sessions is essential as there are limited spaces. Please specify which session you would like to attend, or if you would like to come to more than one. Book a place by emailing: bromptonproject@royalparks.gsi.gov.uk.

Friends of Brompton Cemetery Tours

Volunteers from the Friends of Brompton Cemetery also lead public guided tours of the cemetery on Sunday afternoons, and offer private tours by arrangement during the week.

The public tours are offered every Sunday from May to August, and on two Sundays each month from September to April. Tours begin at 2pm from outside of the Chapel, and last about two hours. A donation of at least £6 per person contributes toward the work of the Friends.

The Friends’ noticeboards, near the Old Brompton Road and Fulham Road entrances, display current information about tours, events and other items of interest to Friends and other visitors.
