Fulham Broadway to be Full Again by Christmas
As Wilkinson moves into unit left empty by HMV
Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre is once again fully let with the unit vacated by HMV at the beginning of the year taken over by retail chain Wilkinson.
Work is already underway converting the store and the Midlands based chain Wilkinson - which describes itself as "the home of family value" - is aiming to open by the beginning of December.
After HMV collapsed into administration and closed a number of stores, including the one in Fulham, the centre considered splitting up the large two storey space into three separate smaller stores. However, Wilkinson has instead taken over the entire unit, and will sell a large range of "home, garden, leisure, baby care, toys, pet and more".
Across Fulham Road meanwile, plans by American retail and leisure group Dory Ventures to convert the Grade II* listed Town Hall into a shopping arcade, plus a restaurant and 15 - 20 new apartments are progressing, with applications for planning permission and Listed Building Consent expected soon.
Hammersmith and Fulham Council says that once these consents are granted, it is expected that the physical restoration of the building will take an estimated 18 months to two years.
Other upcoming boosts to the Broadway include the return of Carlson, the multi-national giant behind the T.G.I. Friday's chain to the large corner site of the former Fulham Broadway tube station with a new "UK concept restaurant" called Ticket Hall and the arrival of Whole Foods Market in spring 2014.
