All Saints Fulham Holds Pet Blessing Service

All creatures great and small welcome on Sunday

All Saints Fulham is holding its annual Pet Blessing Service on Sunday October 12 at 3pm, when a procession of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, turtles, white rats and assorted others will join the congregation.

The Pet Blessing, which has become an autumn tradition at the church, close to Putney Bridge, emphasises the importance of animals in our lives.

It is also the only occasion when All Saints polices the seating arrangements for maximum harmony, with cats on one side and dogs on the other!

Associate Vicar, Penny Seabrook says: " People really enjoy bringing their animals to church and it is good to see animal lovers across the generations making new friends over tea after the service."

All Saints has also thanked over 600 adults and children who attended the church's Community Fete on Saturday September 20.

The event raised almost £7,000, most of which will be going to two worthwhile causes - The Brunswick Club for Young People and The Honeypot Children's Charity - as well as to help with the children’s work of the church. 

The church says on its website: " Thanks to the face painters, cake-sellers, dog judges, comperes, toy sellers, sausage sizzlers, booksellers, bean counters, bartenders, sweetie-sellers, loomers, fashion advisors, goalies, crazy costume wearers, photographers, poster-printers and especially the cleaner-uppers."

The church says all creatures great and small are welcome and they will be given a special blessing. The service will be followed by refreshments.

The church is also thanking everyone who came to the All Saints Community Fete on Saturday September 28, which raised over £6,000.

The church says: " Besides raising money from the Church and in particular its children’s work, part of the proceeds are going to The Upper Room and Isla's Brighter Future.

" And nothing left over went to waste – we’ve helped stock All Saints School’s toy cupboard for breakfast club, provided books for the school's Christmas fete and made generous donations to a number of local charity stores. "

The church also thanked those who gave time and money to the Festival of Choral Evensong, which was attended by over 330 people and raised £2,700 for the homeless.
