Hurlingham Club Opens Doors to Visitors

Explore 42 acre riverside gardens

There is a rare oppportunity for outsiders to explore the Hurlingham Club's 42 acre gardens on Saturday May 30.

The exclusive club is opening its doors as part of the

National Gardens Scheme, which opens gardens across England and Wales to raise £2 million a year for nursing,

caring and gardening charities.

The club's grounds include many mature trees, a two acre

lake with water fowl, expansive lawns and a river walk.

Capability Brown and Humphry Repton were involved with landscaping the gardens, which are famous for their roses, herbaceous and lakeside borders, shrubberies and bedding displays.

The riverbank is a haven for wildlife with native trees,

shrubs and wild flowers.

The gardens will be open from 11am till 4pm, and light refreshments, tea and wine will be availbable to visitors.

Entry will cost £5 for adults, free for children, and all

proceeds will go to charity.
