Fulham and Chelsea Storm to Success

Local teams triumph as season nears end

Clint Dempsey was the man of the match, scoring two goals to help Fulham FC confound the bookies and achieve a well deserved win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Despite the fact that City had won their last six games in a row, and were expected to make this their seventh, Fulham dominated the second half of the game.

In the first half, a goal by City's Stephen Ireland meant Fulham were left trailing, but it was a different story after the half time break.

The double act of Dempsey and Zamora scored the equaliser 49 minutes into the game, and Dickson Etuhu slammed in a second goal just before the hour mark. Then in the final ten minutes, Dempsey scored again, achieving a decisive result of three - one.

This win boosts Fulham's chances of winning seventh place and a UEFA Cup spot. The team are now looking to make it three away wins in succession as they travel to Middlesbrough this Saturday, April 18, where the kick-off will be at 3pm. Tickets are now on general sale.

At Stamford Bridge meanwhile, Chelsea played Liverpool on Tuesday night in a EUFA Champions League Quarter Final match which turned into a stunning eight goal extravaganza. The final four all score meant the Blues won seven - five on aggregate, and now go on to play Barcelona in the Semi Final.

The first leg will be played in Spain on April 28 and the second leg will be at Stamford Bridge on May 6, with tickets available to members from this week.
