Make your views heard at public events in May

What would you like to see happening in South Park?

That's the question Hammersmith and Fulham Council is

asking local residents during May.

£500,000 has already been spent on improvements to the much loved park, and now a masterplan is being drawn up

to decide what will happen in the next ten years.

Residents are invited to share their views at a series of consultation events, each featuring special workshops where participants will be able to inspire a new vision for the park. The workshops will include creative activities for children and young people, from art competitions

to music sessions.

A masterplan will provide a blueprint for improvements, identify and attract funding for future investment and guide the management of the park for the next ten years.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents' services, says: " We want to provide relevant facilities and experiences for local people, while restoring, protecting and preserving the features of the park for future generations. Make sure you attend one of these events so that you can tell us your thoughts and create a vision for South Park that will be loved and cherished for many years to come."

The local residents association PRARA and the recently formed Friends of South Park have been campaigning for the restoration of the Victorian park and improvements to sports facilities, reopening of toilets and the addition of a park cafe.

The consultation events will take place on:

Saturday May 16 from 10.30 am to 3.00pm - Hurlingham and Chelsea School, Peterborough Rd.
This event will include workshops for children and young people and lunch and refreshments will be available

Thursday May 21 from 5.30pm to 9.00pm - Hurlingham and Chelsea School, Peterborough Rd.
Refreshments will be available

Saturday June 6 from 12.00 noon to 5.00pm – South Park, Clancarty Road. This will be a
drop-in session to see the results of previous workshops and the Masterplan options.

All of the consultation events will be child-friendly and prizes will be on offer to those young people with the most inspiring ideas.

The sessions will help to inform Churchman Landscape Architects Ltd who have been appointed by the council to create the masterplan.
