Council and Hospital Prepared to Fight Swine Flu

Tried and tested pandemic flu plan in place

Hammersmith and Fulham Council says it is working with the Primary Care Trust and the Health Protection Agency to ensure that it is prepared for any outbreak of swine flu in the borough.

At Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is also prepared, saying has a tried and tested pandemic flu plan and has already set up an action group to discuss and monitor the situation.

Staff have also been made fully aware of symptoms and the medical management and infection prevention and control measures.

Anyone in the borough who has recently travelled to an infected area and has experienced influenza-type illness - fever, cough, sore throad, headache or muscles aches - should stay at home to limit contact with others, and seek medical advice from their GP or by calling NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
