Police Appeal for Witnesses to Assault After Football Match


Victim seriously injured outside Eight Bells pub

Police are appealing for witnesses to a vicious assault outside the Eight Bells pub in Fulham High Street on May 6.

The 39 year-old victim was left with serious injuries including a fractured eye socket and and jaw.

The attack happened on the day of the Champions League semi final match between Chelsea and Barcelona, which Chelsea lost in controversial circumstances.

The injured man was discovered on the ground outside the pub at around 11pm. He had been badly beaten and was bleeding from an ear and suffered broken ribs in addition to the eye and jaw injuries.

Detective Constable Dave Austin of Hammersmith CID says: "This is a traumatic time for the victim and his family, I would appeal for anyone with information about the crime to come forward."
