Artists and Potters Have Record Breaking Exhibition

Spring success for Fulham society

The Society of Fulham Artists and Potters’ Spring Exhibition at Fulham Library has proved to be a record breaker.

The Society, known as SOFAP, reports that the exhibition, which ran all last week, had more members showing than ever before - 105 in all -  and more exhibits - a grand total of 327, including paintings, ceramics and glass.

 

 

Sales also broke all records, soaring to over £6,000 by the final day. Prices at the exhibition ranged from £20 upwards, with the top price of £650 going to local painter Tony Hannaford’s stunning pastel of the Bishop’s Park Allotments under snow. The Potters' section was also larger than ever, and reported excellent sales.

Founded in 1952 under the presidency of Michael Stewart, the society comprises 200 members, and has a waiting list to join. It includes a number of professional artists as well as enthusiastic amateurs, and it is proud to be eclectic.

The Society, known for convenience as SOFAP, holds regular workshops with professional tutors, as well as Spring and Autumn Exhibitions. The next show starts on August 2 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in aid of Hospital Arts.
