Our annual festival comes to a close with fun for all the family

It's the big finale for Celebrating Fulham this weekend, as our annual Fulham festival comes to a close with live music, theatre, walking tours, the famous Paggs Cup football tournament and the Fair on the Green, a fun family event on Parsons Green.

Friday July 6

Live Music at The Cock Tavern 360 North End Road, 8pm

Blues Fest with Mick Taylor + Matt Schofield Trio. Under the Bridge, 7pm

Part of the legendary John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Mick Taylor is the multiinfluenced guitarist who replaced Brian Jones for the Rolling Stones’ classic era, 1969 to 1974. Before and since then he’s had a hand in projects as diverse as ‘Tubular Bells,’ jazz flautist Herbie Mann’s
‘Reggae’ and a ‘Classical Sitar’ album.

Saturday July 7

Fair on the Green, Parsons Green, 12 noon to 5pm.

A fabulous day out for all the family. Two live stages of music and entertainment, over a hundred stalls, a food court, bouncy castles, Punch and Judy, carousels,  magician’s, climbing frame, fun fair, and much much more. Call 020 7731 3964 for more details.

Islamic Cultural Exhibition, also Sunday July 8 - Fulham Library, open during library opening hours

An exhibition about the religion of Islam, the Qur’an, Islamic History, as well as Muslims living in the West. Islamic artefacts, literature displays, free literature, goody bags, children’s area and also light refreshments.

St Andrews', Fulham Fields Music Festival, 3pm - 4pm

Villiers Quartet presents an Olympiad family concert. A fantastic family programme of popular classics celebrating the Olympics with music by Handel, Haydn, Mozart and Mendelssohn. Children and babies welcome as are parents!

The Alex Hutton Trio. British jazz composer and pianist Alex Hutton is “an inventive writer of
cinematic, folksong-like melodies, and a piano improviser who likes to feel popsong chords beneath him.”

Come and Sing - Bach B Minor Mass at St Johns’s Church

A fun day learning and performing one of the greatest works of the choral repertoire. All are welcome, regardless of age, voice type or experience.

Fulham’s Lion Tour - Fulham Broadway shopping centre, , 2pm

Come and visit the Lion houses, Fulham’s unique Peterborough Estate where Irish developer James Nichols trademarked each of his elegant 1890s houses with terracotta lions. Lead by Blue Badge Guide Simon Rodway visit two of Fulham’s hidden gems, South Park, and the Parsons Green Sports Club, tucked away at the quiet heart of everything.

The tour ends at iconic furniture shop SophistoCat in Wandsworth Bridge Road, where we hear the heart-warming story of the real-life lion Christian, who inspired the name of the shop and who was bought as a cub from Harrods in 1969. The story of Christian is soon to be the subject of a Hollywood movie.

An hour of music in the Indian tradition from the Arts Council supported by the Bhavan Centre's elite music and dance group.

A Tour of Margravine Cemetery - its history and biodiversity, 3pm

The cemetery was opened in 1869 and laid out by local architect George Saunders who designed the three modest Gothic style lodges and one surviving chapel. The cemetery contains
several listed monuments, 300+ trees of many different species and has an active management plan to encourage biodiversity.

The Tour is organized by the Friends of Margravine Cemetery. Meet at the North Gate to the cemetery ( nearest one to Barons Court Station) in Margravine Gardens. The tour is free, but
donation to the Friends would be very welcome.

Bat Walk, Fulham Palace, 9pm

Bishops Avenue, SW6 6EA, 9pm. Bat Walk around the Gardens of Fulham Palace, led by John Tovey of the London Bat Group. Meet at the pedestrian entrance to the Palace Grounds. Wear solid footwear and bring a torch! Please ring 020 3080 0655 to confirm your attendance.

This is a free event but donations to the London Bat Group are welcomed.
