The Bible in Voice and Verse
Presented by the Fulham Society
A special concert of words and music as part of Celebrating Fulham Week 2011.
2011 is the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Bible. In addition to shaping the way we speak and providing a handbook for Christian worship it has also inspired vast amounts of music, in hymns, anthems, spirituals and oratorios.
Concert trio 'In Voice and Verse' tell the story of Genesis to Revelation using the words of the King James Bible interspersed with the famous pieces of music which those words inspired. The music will include excerpts from Haydn's ‘Creation’, Handel's ‘Messiah’, Mendelssohn’s ‘Oh for the Wings of a Dove’ and several modern compositions.
The trio consist of actor Lance Pierson, an experienced Bible performer, singer Belinda Yates, member of the Monteverdi Choir, and Heather Chamberlain, an accomplished pianist and teacher.
Tickets cost £10, and can be booked online.
