Emergency services at Charing Cross staying open

One thing I'd missed amongst all the brouhaha about hospital closures is that there will actually be relatively little change with regard to emergency services at Charing Cross. London Ambulance would never have taken heart attacks, serious trauma, stroke or paediatric cases there any way and this will remain the case.Laudible as the campaign is to try and maintain the status quo in hospital provision they have been a bit irresponsible in giving the impression the area will be totally without emergency provision. A straw poll of the five people I was out with last night revealed that everyone thought that they would soon be no longer able to go to Charing Cross for a medical emergency.

Given a limitation on budgets it may make sense to close outdated facilities on valuable land to fund investment in modern facilities elsewhere. However, my point wasn't really about the wisdom of the plan overall but that the campaign against closures in danger of spreading misinformation about what facilities will still remain.

It is still all about making money out of a very expensive land space.  500 beds left? what is it going to be a hospital without beds or a "walk in" Health Centre for a local population of, just the local council, approximately 200K ? We have really been cheated.
