Bridge Cafe Acton and Hammersmith nudes' murders.

You may be aware that the cafe has featured recently in the television series The Apprentice. On Sunday 17th May the Daily Star is running a story suggesting the killer may have used the cafe in the 1960's. The last 4 victims were stored near the cafe and the last one was found in undergrowth just opposite. Regards Neil Milkins.

Hi Daniel. The police reinvestigated the murders in 2006-2007 and concluded that Mungo Ireland of Putney was most likely responsible.(He committed suicide 1 month after the body of the last victim was found.) A different police investigation in 2007 concluded that Harold Jones would have posed a danger to young girls throughout his life and that he was possibly responsible for the rape and murder of 12 year old Muriel Drinkwater in Swansea in 1946. (google Muriel Drinkwater Murder.) I have found a lot of links between Jones, Ireland and 3 of the Hammersmith murder victims. Regards Neil.

Neil - Is it possible the police made the same connections as you have but the DPP concluded there was insufficient evidence to get a conviction? (I haven't reviewed the facts. It may be he was dead by the relevant moment, which would obviously also rule out not only a prosecution but also his naming as the chief suspect.  I believe the police don't name dead chief suspects though they do in the circumstances say they are not continuing to work the case, or some such words)

Hi Dan. One of the reasons for posting details of the Daily Star article was because I would have thought that some people in Fulham would be intrigued that a former double child rapist and murderer lived in Hestercombe Avenue between 1947 and 1962 without anyone - including the police realising who he was and what he had done. I am also sure that Fulham residents would be interested in the fact that Jones is in the frame for the murders of 6 - possibly 8 prostitutes while living in Fulham and Putney. The reason that the paper featured the story had nothing to do with me. The paper started off by doing a story purely on the link between the cafe and the Apprentice. It was the owner of the cafe that put the Star reporter onto the link between the cafe and the killings. The national publicity that my research has attracted obviously cannot do future book sales any harm, but my posting on the various forums is designed to attract people who can give information about Jones. The publicity has helped because through it I have been contacted by the 51 year old daughter of second victim Gwynneth Rees and the 45 year old son of seventh victim Frances Brown. Both have supplied photos and information about their mothers which I have found invaluable.  Regards Neil.

No joy, Neil, too many stiffs in Fulham! Anyway, given The Bridge is in Acton, to which SW6 folk don't venture except in error, why are you posting this here, except to quietly plug your forthcoming book on, let me guess, the Hammersmith nudes' murders.
