Major Fears Over Pitshanger Lane Development Plans
Public meeting being held to discuss Kenmure mansions extension

There has been a shocked reaction in Pitshanger after plans have been submitted to the council to extend a mansion block by two floors to create more flats.
Kenmure Mansions is on Pitshanger Lane and the freeholders Classville Ltd have applied to Ealing Council to keep the existing parade, which has shops at ground level, and build two additional floors on top of the current residences to provide 44 more flats - (13 x 1 beds; 18 x 2 beds and 13 x 3), they say they will improve the existing building, its front and rear accesses and immediate adjacent land.
Pitshanger Lane was High Street of the Year in 2015 and residents and traders have been appalled by the proposals which they believe would be a disaster for the Lane.
Nearly 800 people have made their views known on the council planning portal with comments including:
'' It would completely destroy the character of Pitshanger Lane, plunge the whole lane into darkness (the south side of the road is in shadow for much of the morning already) and put even further strain on local amenities and infrastructure. The whole idea beggars belief.''
'' This proposal will ruin our award winning lane not to mention the lives of the shopkeepers and flat owners who will have to live with the noisy, inconvenient development process and the loss of revenue.''
'' The building of the extra floors on Kenmure Mansions is not in keeping with the small village feel that makes Pitshanger Lane.''
Feelings are running high over the development plans and a public meeting has been arranged at St Barnabas on Thursday ( 15th August) at 19.30.
