Attempted to flee the country after stabbing another man to death
24-year-old Adrian Kompinski, a Polish national living in Perivale, has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to 17 years in jail for the manslaughter of Patryk Jezmanski.
Kompinski of Rydal Crescent was found guilty last month of manslaughter and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

On Sunday, 10 December last year he stabbed to death 23-year-old Mr Jezmanski, who was also Polish, on Bilton Road in Perivale. He was found injured at the scene at around 8.15pm and taken to hospital but died a few hours later.
Kompinski was arrested three days later in Edinburgh during what police believe was an attempt to flee the country by taking a flight to Germany.
When officers searched through Kompinski’s phone they found a highly incriminating text send to his mother admitting to his involvement in the killing of Mr Jezmanski, instructing her to keep silent and telling her that a friend was helping him to get away.

The victim’s mother, Violetta Abubaker, said, “Patryk came to the United Kingdom to try to better himself. He was not academically minded, but was a hard worker.
“My daughter came to the UK in June 2016 and a few months later on I came to the UK for work and for us to be together, and Patryk was very excited when I arrived. We lived together for a time in rented accommodation, and our ultimate aim was to have our own flat or house together.
“This dream was shattered on the 10 December 2017 when I was told the devastating news that Patryk had been killed. I was on the train at the time and broke down uncontrollably, I could not believe what had happened. I was hysterical, and recall shouting down the phone.
“Patryk was always happy, always smiling, he lit up our lives, and now that he has been taken from our family, he has left a gaping chasm, one which can never be filled. Patryk was my first born, and as such he was always dearest to a mother’s heart.
“It has been six months since Patryk died, and the pain of his passing has not eased. Emotions are still so raw and I cannot come to terms with the fact I will never see or speak to him again. He was not only my son, but also a brother and a father.”
Detective Inspector Shaun Fitzgerald, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, commented, “Kompinski is a cold and calculated individual who showed no remorse for his actions, and by fleeing off to Scotland to try and get out of the country, he showed that he only cared about himself and wanted to protect his own back.
“He also showed he was only thinking about himself when he decided to change his account at the last minute to say that he acted out in self-defence.
“I hope that the sentencing brings some comfort to Patryk’s family.”
