Flooded basement closes local eatery for more than a month
Chiswick's much loved local Gravy Restaurant will be closed for six weeks whilst they undergo major renovation. However, the overhaul is not a scheduled one, rather an indirect result of Thames Water's activities in the area.
After emergency repairs necessitated turning off water to Chiswick High Road one Sunday evening, the resumption of the water supply saw Gravy as the unlucky recipient of slightly more water than they had wanted in the form of a totally flooded basement.
Initially the owners had hoped to make rapid repairs and reopen this week. However, further investigation revealed the damage to have been more extensive than first thought. The owners decided to turn a negative into a positive (a case of a glass/basement half full rather than half empty?) and take advantage of this enforced closure to give Gravy a face-lift.
Manager Sharpour assured chiswickw4.com that Gravy will get a complete new look but that the basic popular format of excellent food served in a sophisticated and friendly environment will remain.
Current indications are that Gravy will reopen in mid-June. We will of course keep their many fans abreast of all developments.
