Mari Delicatessen brings disused corner in Eyot Gardens back to life
A new Italian delicatessen has opened in a long disused corner site in Eyot Gardens, to the delight of locals.
The site was a corner shop but closed about fifteen years
ago, and the owners of what is now Mari Delicatessen plan to bring life
back to the area.
They are selling cured meats from Italy, as well as cheeses, bread, pasta and even chocolates.
Owner Marion Aeillo said; "We want to do all organic food, using only refined flour to bake our breads, croissants and patisseries. We sell salami, cheeses, smoothies, make our own pasta and sauces, patisserie, hand made chocolates, and sell top end wine.
They also sell oils, honey and products such as lentils. The deli has been set up by Marion and his mother Maria.
The family ran a restaurant in Fulham, called Miraggio, for fifteen years, but sold up and closed after his father passed away. Marion then spotted the location in Chiswick and decided to open up in W4.
"Later on we will expand and do lasagnes, cannelloni and other ready made dishes which people can take home. We are very committed to being organic. Soon we will do our own ice creams. We have long experience in catering and like to make everything home-made."
He added that they were delighted to find such a beautiful and quiet location and hoped that local people and those in nearby offices would become customers.
Opening hours are currently 8am -8 30pm six days a week (closed Mondays) but they hope to open shortly at 7am for breakfast.
There are also a couple of outside tables.
