It's Chained Melody as Bailiffs Enter Cafe Premises

Establishment which split opinion in Bedford Park appears to be no more

Melody Café on Bedford Corner looks unlikely to reopen after bailiffs took possession of the site.

A forfeiture notice has been posted in the window on South Parade ending any hopes that the café would return. The notice says that the lease has been terminated and the landlord has re-entered the premises.

A handwritten note at Melody in October promising a reopening on 6 November after a refurbishment but no work appears to have taken place.

The café was a source of controversy throughout its short life. The operators installed an outside gazebo which split local opinion and had to be taken down after Ealing Council had turned down a retrospective application to retain the covered eating area outside the premises.

Melody cafe offered a range of dishes from breakfasts, to sandwiches and salads as well as hot food throughout the day and into the evening and had established a local following. Owner Mohammad Zarzour organised a free dinner for people living alone last Christmas Day.

We attempted to contact Mr Zarzour but have not received a response.
