Union Jacks Deny Rumours Of Closure

The restaurant says it is not being turned into a different Jamie Oliver brand

Rumours of the demise of Jamie Oliver’s Chiswick restaurant Union Jacks are unfounded, according the restaurant.

Earlier this week there were suggestions on Twitter that UJ's was going to become a Jamie’s Italian Trattoria over the summer. Another rumour some weeks ago that it was to become a Jamie’s Italian was denied by a spokesperson for the celebrity chef.

The latest rumour seems to have emerged from the catering press where an interview with Jamie Oliver had the headline 'Jamie turns to trattorias as Union Jacks fails to fly' and this was picked up and tweeted by people in Chiswick.

Union Jacks took to Twitter to deny the rumours and a member of management told ChiswickW4.com that the restaurant was not closing and there were "no plans to open a Jamie’s Italian in place of UJ’s”.

"We are about to build a proper bar area into our downstairs section and redesign the table and seating layout in the downstairs area as well."

Jamie's Trattoria, the latest brand in the chef's huge business empire is opening this month in King St, Richmond. The restaurants will have about 100 covers and will be smaller than the Jamie's Italian venues.
