Chiswick's Italian 'Villa' Restaurant Is Ready


Villa di Geggiano opened on the High Road at the weekend

The Villa di Geggiano, the new Italian restaurant on the site of the former Brick Oven on Chiswick High Road, opened this Saturday (October 25th).

The restaurant is backed by the family behind a fifteenth-century Tuscan stately home and consists of the restaurant, a deli, and wineshop. The exterior is modelled on the family's villa in Chianti, and the menu will be heavily influenced by Tuscan cooking, with wines and olive oils from the family estate.

The concept for the Chiswick restaurant is said to be loosely inspired by restaurant/delis such as Ottolenghi, Carluccio and Sally Clarke's.

The restaurant and deli will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as coffees, sandwiches and cakes. It will also sell take away Tuscan food including pasta, ragu, pesto, bread and other organic products as well as Villa Di Geggiano wines. They also plan to sell home made ceramics, glassware, linen, and other products from the area. A spokeswoman said that they welcomed local artists mounting exhibitions and there would be poetry readings and live entertainment. .

Andrea and Alessandro Boscu Bianchi Bandinelli are the current proprietors of the Villa di Geggiano, near Siena, which has been in their family since 1527. The Villa was declared a National Heritage site in 1976. The family says its vineyard was producing wine and exporting it to Great Britain in 1725.
