High Road pub to become a microbrewery

Chiswick High Road pub, The Barley Mow, is to have a change of image. From next week, it will be known as The Lamb Brewery, and will serve craft beers and ales brewed on site.

The premises are currently undergoing a refurbishment, along with the outside garden. It is understood the pub will be open to the public from next Tuesday,(September 11) and a new bar menu will also be introduced.

A spokesman said the pub, which is part of the Convivial chain, which also includes The Botanist in Kew, would be offering something different to the people of Chiswick. The range of ales will be unique to Chiswick and will also be their own interpretation of classic beers.

The Lamb Brewery has a long association with Chiswick. Originally owned by the Sich family, the Lamb Brewery operated until 1922, based in Church Street. The family sold it to the Isleworth Brewery in 1920.

The spokesman said the idea was to "re-establish" the Lamb Brewery at the Barley Mow.
