Chef At Zizzi In Chiswick Victim Of Ethiopian Airlines Crash
Pilar Martinez Docampo was on her way to Kenya to work as a volunteer with an NGO
A Spanish woman who had worked as assistant chef at Zizzi in Chiswick until last month, was one of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines crash.
Pilar Martínez Docampo, 32, who was on her way to a post as a teacher with an NGO, was amongst 157 passengers and crew killed in the crash on Sunday. She was believed to be travelling to teach English in Kenya. She was one of two Spanish nationals killed in the crash.
A Zizzi head office spokesman said: “Pilar Martínez Docampo worked with us for almost 3 and a half years and was Assistant Chef in Chiswick before choosing to leave in February 2019. We are very saddened to hear of the loss of Pilar and our thoughts are with her friends and family at this time.”
Reports said that Ms Docampo, from Galicia, had been in London with her boyfriend for about seven years. She is believed to have been living in Brentford while working in Chiswick since 2015.
Ms Docampo
is understood to have visited family in the town in the days before the
flight. It is thought to be the first time she had travelled with a non-governmental
organisation to work as a volunteer. Her death has led to three days of
mourning in her hometown of Cangas do Morrazo, where a friend told local
media: “She was very happy and liked to travel a lot.”
The Mayor of Cangas, Xosé Manuel Pazos, described her as a "young
and supportive person".
