The fast food restaurant has been here for over thirty years
McDonald's has announced that it is closing its branch on Chiswick High Road. The fast food chain, which opened the local branch in July 1983, is to close its doors on Sunday, May 25th. The company said that trading patterns had changed in the area and it had taken the "difficult" decision to close.
The nearest branches will be at 322 High Street Brentford (opposite Watermans) or in the Broadway Centre, Hammersmith.
A spokesman for McDonald's told chiswickw4.com: “On the 25th May we will close our High Road, Chiswick restaurant which opened over 30 years ago. This is not a decision we have taken lightly but it has become apparent that trading patterns in the area have changed and therefore we have taken the difficult decision to cease trading at this site.
“We are pleased to say that all staff have been offered transfers to neighbouring restaurants and would like to thank all of our customers who have supported the restaurant over the years.”
The Chiswick branch was popular with teenagers who congregated inside and outside the restaurant as they disembarked from the nearby bus stop after school, sometimes causing a bottleneck on the pavement. It was also a popular spot with families and young children and the interior was refurbished some time ago.
Any vouchers valid for the Chiswick branch will be honoured at Hammersmith and Brentford outlets.
