Two more bands seek the local vote in Xfm's Rock School
After it emerged that Xfm's Rock School voting system had been abused, a new text vote has been planned for Tuesday 23rd November. The five finalists will be announced on Xfm's breakfast show on Wednesday November 24 at 8.00am.
In addition to Chiswick Community School's The Flyhighers, two further local bands are also in the running for the coveted prize £3,000 of musical equipment for their school and a place on the bill at the Xfm Winter Wonderland gig in front of 5,000 people at the Carling Hammersmith Apollo.
The Zimmermen comprise of Jack Hawthorne vocals and lead guitar age 15, Patrick Ormerod guitar age 15, Timothy Thornton bass guitar age 16 and Sean Stevenson 16 drums.
They've only been together as a band for a few months but Jack and Patrick have been best friends since nursery. Jack and Timothy also play in a rhythm and blues band together. The have entered a cover version of The Cure's 'Boy's Don't Cry'.
Switchgear have entered a cover of 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' by Jet. This band is made up of James Scott (15) guitar, Joe Scott (13) vocals and bass and Charlie Noon (13) drums. They have played at several local Chiswick gigs including a annual set at the Bedford Park Festival.
