Another major development planned for West Chiswick area
West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society urge local residents to send objections to the new development on Power Road immediately
Members of the local amenity group, the West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society were shocked to discover that a nine storey development was being planned on the north corner of Power Road and Gunnersbury Avenue.
The planning notice was published in a local newspaper and notifications were sent to a handful of local residences, but many people living in the vicinity did not become aware of the development until after the official deadline for making comment. Planning officers have extended the deadline to allow for late objections. Local residents intending to make a comment on the development should contact planning officers as soon as possible. The application is to demolish existing two storey structure and construct a car showroom with associated car parking on ground and mezzanine floors, with basement car parking area; 60 two bedroom flats and 169 one bedroom flats. It is listed as a six storey building but the local residents' group believes that the building will be the equivalent of nine storeys high.
The residential units will be for key workers in the National Health Service.
The West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society is urging people to object to the development. A spokesperson for the society has said. "We're not objecting to its mainly residential use but the size and scale of the development dominating the local area." The society has prepared a list of reasons to object to the application compiled by chairman Terry Thorn.
Objections were supposed to be received by 13th January but Ian Draper of Hounslow Council's planning department has advised the society that objections received now would be considered. He said that notice of the development was only sent to a limited number of properties considered to be directly affected by the plans.
