Fire provided opportunity to give 48 year-old interior a makeover
Chris’s Fish Bar has reopened this Thursday (30 July) on Turnham Green Terrace with a new look.
On 15 June the ground floor was completed gutted by a blaze which required 25 fire fighter and four fire engines to put out.
The Chiswick chippie which claims Ant McPartlin, James May and even Boris Johnson are among its customers has now been redesigned.
The manager, Roger said ‘Whilst rebuilding our shop was challenging, especially during these difficult times, we have worked tirelessly since the fire to achieve a successful reopening. For those who have been visiting Chris’s over the years, you will recognise us from our traditional blue and yellow colours and the large mermaid mirror inside.
"We have tried to rebuild and modernise those same features, opting for brighter LED signage and an ethereal blue mermaid inside. Dome shaped lighting and fishes on the ceiling give our new fish and chippie a ‘ship-like’ feel and we have fitted more comfortable seating for our customers wishing to dine in under the new Government social distancing guidelines. As well as this, we have added new menu items including chicken burgers, fish fillet burgers, calamari and bean burgers, whilst maintaining our same original menu.”
He added, “We want to thank our customers for their well wishes and loyalty to our chippie over the past 48 years. Your support has kept our business thriving, and we cannot wait to serve you our fresh fish and chips again soon. We also wanted to thank the fire crews from Chiswick, Acton, Hammersmith and Richmond fire stations who tackled the blaze so swiftly and bravely. Due to their efficiency, nobody was injured during the blaze. Thank you and we hope to see you soon.’
