Ant & Dec insure each others lives for a reported £2 million
It has been reported this week that Ant & Dec have insured each other for a massive £2million meaning that should one half of the diminutive duo die, the other one will receive a handsome payout.
Thirty year old Dec who has no immediate plans to leave the planet told the Radio Times "I just know if he [Ant] kicks the bucket, I get a massive payout."
But if it is true that the pair value each other at £2m, it puts them way down the celebrity list. Screen heroine Betty Grable's legs alone were insured for US$1m back in the 1940's even Ken Dodd placed higher value on his teeth at £4m although the more eccentric insurance policies e.g. celebrity posteriors turn out to be virtually all nothing but publicity stunts.
Legally only spouses and civil partners can buy a life insurance policy on each other as insurers don't want to provide too many incentives to bump people off, however individuals can buy a life insurance policy on a non-related party if they can prove they will lose out financially on that person's death.
The double act, who have rarely been seen apart since their Byker Grove days, will not get a penny if they simply fall out but with a new series of Saturday Night Takeaway to start this weekend and the next I'm a celebrity show in the pipeline, there's little chance of seeing these two risk their investment.
