Second man airlifted to hospital after being retrieved from the river

A man has died this Monday afternoon (9 September) after reportedly falling from Kew Bridge. A second man has been taken to hospital after being found in the river.
Emergency services closed off the bridge while the police and RNLI searched the river. An air ambulance landed near Corney Reach to bring the man to hospital.
Richmond Police said on Twitter, ‘Officers, @Ldn_Ambulance + @RNLI attended, finding two males in the water. Both (no further details) were pulled from the river. One was sadly pronounced deceased, whilst the other was taken to a west London hospital.’
The RNLI said,‘Chiswick Lifeboat was sent and the London Ambulance Service. Two people were rescued and are now in the care of the ambulance service.’
Spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said, ‘We were called at 12:37pm today to reports of an incident on Corney Reach Way, Chiswick.
‘We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, two medics in cars and an advanced paramedic to the scene.
‘We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART) and London’s Air Ambulance. We treated two men at the scene.
‘Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene. We took the second man to a major trauma centre as a priority.’
