Brentford Based Foodbank Appeals For More Food Donations

Hounslow Community Foodbox made 200 deliveries last week

Foodbank donations

Brentford Voice reminds us all to help Hounslow Community FoodBox, our local foodbank.

People are continuing to donate food and money, and the fact that people are still considering how to support the Community FoodBox during this time is of great credit to our community.

However, our local FoodBox has gone from 80 deliveries a month to 200 last week and is therefore asking for more food donations in particular, as the need for these supplies is greater now than ever.

If you are in a position to donate food items then do please refer to the items listed below.

There are collection points in Morrisons and one in the Coop by the University on Boston Manor Rd, plus you can take your donations to the FoodBox premises and leave them outside when it’s open Tuesday - Friday 10am to 1pm, Saturday 10am to 12pm. The Hounslow Community FoodBox premises are located at Brickfield Community Centre, Brickfield Close, Brentford TW8 8JN.

Create a collection point
If you are in a position to create a collection point in your immediate neighbourhood, or street or road then do please give this some consideration as Hounslow Community FoodBox will collect your local community donations once gathered.

If you can create a collection point (such as a front garden or porch) FoodBox do ask could 1 or 2 people monitor your collection box and contact FoodBox (Philip, or the office) when it’s ready for collection and any special requirements (timing etc.).

They would also ask that donations are placed in bags in the collection box for ease of transfer to their volunteer’s vehicle.

OR alternatively you can take your collection directly to the FoodBox premises.

FoodBox can provide a donation notice for the collection box, should you require one, do contact Philip Jones at treasurer@hounslowfoodbox.org or 07743 547262.

All food items would be most welcome as stocks are now very, very low as a result of a dramatic increase in referrals, most of whom are being referred for the first time and are now self-isolating.

Hounslow Community FoodBox now delivers all food parcels and has been recruiting many new volunteer drivers to provide this service.   If you have any spare face masks they would be most welcome too for use by volunteers.
