There were major traffic delays in the Brentford and Isleworth area this Wednesday morning (28 November) due to the closure of the Great West Road.

The A4 was shut in both directions after what police are describing as a suspicious item was found near the junction with Warkworth Gardens which is just west of Syon Lane. The road was closed between Gillette Corner and Wood Lane.

Police were called at 9:47am and specialist officers attended the scene along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade as a precaution.

The item was declared harmless and the incident stood down with the road reopening before noon.
