Air Quality Brentford invite you to fill in the consultation on London ULEZ that closes on Thursday 25th June.
You can fill in the response in under 5 minutes or give the consultation far greater consideration. Air pollution is in the news a lot these days and it's a busy time for those in power to find out what we think.
To respond to the high death rate of Londoners due to long term exposure to pollution, Transport for London is planning to implement an ultra low emissions zone in central London in 2020. All vehicles entering this zone will need to comply with vehicles emissions standards or pay a fee. In the first instance this zone will encompass the existing congestion charging zone. Proposals are also in place to extend this zone to the city bounded by the north and south circular roads. It is estimated that such exemption zones would reduce the level of one of the most toxic pollutants - nitrogen oxide by up to 40% in those areas protected by the zone. Brentford which suffers from high levels of pollution; is currently excluded from these plans and may suffer increased pollution as polluting vehicles choose to drive around London.
