Firearms officers were carrying out a 'welfare check' on Old Oak Common Lane
A police officer is in hospital receiving treatment for a gunshot wound having shot himself in the foot during a routine operation in Acton this Thursday morning (21 September).
He was part of a firearms unit attending what the police have described as a ‘welfare check on the occupant of a property Old Oak Common Lane, W3.
At around 4.20am after completing the call and leaving the address, a police firearm was discharged by one of the officers causing an injury to his foot. He has been taken to a central London hospital for treatment - his condition is not life threatening.
There were no other injuries and no other shots fired.
