John Gallagher recognised for his services by CAMRA
A former Acton Councillor who also served as Ealing Mayor has been recognised for his services to real ale.
Middlesex CAMRA made a special award to John Gallagher from Horn Lane for his services over
40 years to real ale in West London.
Mr Gallagher served the borough for many years, first being appointed as an alderman on Ealing Council in 1978, then a councillor for Springfield (now Acton Central) ward from 1986 to 1998 and elected to represent South Acton, in 2006. In 2011 he became Ealing Mayor and 2014 stood down from the political arena.
A packed West London Trade Union Club heard of his history of support when he was Councillor, Mayor and previous Club Secretary.
Phil Portwood introduced local MP Rupa Huq, “the only teetotal MP who speaks up for real ale in Parliament”!
The night and award ceremony was described as ''a jolly evening with a choice of two ales (Burton Bridge and Milestone) and nibbles.''
